Planetary Background: Orando

Orando is a planet of pink skies and mild climate bathed in the glow of the triple star system known as Valar Three. Orando stands as the sole habitable world in its system. The celestial arrangement, featuring the primary star Valar and its two lesser companions, casts a unique astronomical spectacle and influences the planet's environmental rhythms and cultural perceptions.

Orando is richly endowed with diverse biomes, primarily dominated by expansive forests and rolling grasslands. The flora of Orando is notably distinct from Earth's, with vegetation that commonly exhibits hues of red and pink, imbuing the landscape with a vibrant yet alien beauty. Mountainous regions and scattered savannahs provide a contrasting backdrop, adding to the planet's ecological complexity. The fauna, adapted to these environments, is as diverse as it is peculiar, evolving under the planet's unique stellar conditions.

Orando is divided into several distinct regions, each with its own cultural and environmental identity. The northern territories are known for their rugged terrain and hardy flora, adapted to cooler climates. The southern lands boast fertile plains ideal for agriculture, supporting the bulk of the population. Coastal areas, with their rich marine biodiversity, contrast sharply with the arid desert zones where survival comes first and politics second.

Orando's societal development mirrors Earth's feudal systems, characterized by a rigid hierarchical structure underpinned by a stagnant technological ethos, heavily influenced by deep-rooted religious beliefs. These beliefs have not only hampered technological progression but have also perpetuated a societal model that has seen little change over two millennia. The ruling noble class, intrinsically sensitive, guards this power zealously, maintaining purity through strict lineage control and severe penalties for dilution of their 'noble blood.'

The Orandans' deep-seated xenophobia has led to extreme isolationism. Historically, interactions with alien visitors have often ended in violence, with accusations of heresy or witchcraft leading to executions. This hostility towards outsiders has prompted the Lantern Corps to impose a travel ban on the sector, further cementing Orando's seclusion from galactic affairs.

The Wynzorr Empire has ruled Orando with an iron fist for four millennia, the sole surviving kingdom after the so-called "Last Dragon Wars." The empire's survival is a testament to its unwavering control despite numerous civil wars and rebellions. The recent death of King Voxv Wynzorr in 2012 has plunged the planet into another period of turmoil. The disappearance of his popular daughter, Jeka, has sparked a contentious succession crisis. With her cousin Vharoxx and grandmother Vhagga assuming control, widespread discontent festers among the commoners, while the nobility remains outwardly passive, likely out of fear of losing their privileges.

As civil unrest grows under the current illegitimate reign of Vharoxx, the common people's dissent is palpable, driven by allegiance to the missing Jeka. This internal conflict threatens to destabilize centuries of imperial rule, posing an existential challenge to the Wynzorr dynasty’s continuation.

BIOGRAPHICAL TIMELINE

Background

Before we discuss Jeka, it's probably important to establish some backstory. Her father, Vovx, only ascended to the throne due to his older brother Vythaxx being disinherited by his father for some offense that is not particularly well-known outside of the royal family (even Jeka herself is not entirely clear on what happened). There was some question as to how the succession should follow at that point, with traditionlists claiming that disinheriting Vythaxx did not disqualify any of his legitimate children already born and so they claimed his Vharoxx should assume the throne upon the king's death, but the king disagreed and named his younger son Vovx to the throne instead. This angered many in the Orandan nobility as Vovx was not seen as being the right fit for monarch, having too much of the "common touch" to him and had been as progressive as Orandan society would allow the nobility to get away with. Nevertheless, the king had spoken and few dared to challenge the monarch. However, among those vocal few, was the king's own wife, Vhagga, who insisted to keep her son Vythaxx and grandson Vharoxx as her personal attendants and continually sponsored both to be her official delegates to various court positions, much to the frustration of her husband, and later, King Vovx. 1996 - 2012

In the kingdom of Orando, beneath the triple lights of the Valar stars, Liwinema Gormana Daergina Anazandra Rojekatra Velorya Vauxhall Wynzorr, affectionately known as "Jeka," opened her eyes to a world filled with the duties and expectations of royalty. Hatching from the royal hatchery and stepping into the storied Wynzorr lineage, much was expected of her even at her earliest age.

The first decade of Princess Jeka's life was filled with luxury and maternal love, as well as the somber strands of responsibility and loss. Her father, Voxv Vauxhall Wynzorr, ruled with a firm but just hand, instilling in his daughter the weight of the crown she was destined to wear. Her mother, Daergina Anazandra, was a warm presence, her laughter echoing in the grand halls of the palace until fate extinguished its melodic chime when Jeka was but six years old, dying in complications related to egg-laying. The princess' world dimmed with her mother's passing, but the resolve of future queenhood flickered like a steadfast flame within her.

Jeka took comfort in her mother's passing by visiting the ancient trees in the courtyards of her kingdom's castles, that were said to whisper secrets of the ancestors. Of course, she also found comfort in the distractions of learning what an heir apparent must. She loved few things more than riding swift wyvern steeds across the vast meadows, her red-tipped hair flowing like a banner behind her. Each evening, as the three suns dipped low, she'd listen intently to her grandmother Vhagga's stories, each one a lesson disguised in metaphor, preparing her for the throne... until she realized that her grandmother's stories were designed to turn Jeka against her father.

Her education was as much about statecraft as it was about the sword and the spirit. Even as a child, Jeka exhibited a keen understanding of the intricate dance of diplomacy and a natural skill with the blade, practicing with blunted swords against her cousin Vharoxx under the watchful eye of her uncle Vythaxx. In quieter moments, she also solace by the marble statue of her mother, tracing the etched lines of her mother's face, as if to absorb the wisdom and grace she left behind.

Jeka's childhood was not without its trials. The early loss of her mother cast a long shadow, and the constant vigilance of her guardians often felt like a gilded cage. Yet, with each passing year, her sense of duty grew, as did the silent bond with her people, who saw in her the hope of a new era. It was not uncommon to see Jeka, accompanied by a throng of palace guards, walking the streets of the city and towns nearest whatever castle her family was currently residing in.

By the age of sixteen, Jeka's reputation had blossomed like the rare Orandan nightflowers—a common Orandan symbol of resilience in darkness. Her compassion for her subjects, her fiery spirit in the training yards, and the precocious wisdom she displayed in court marked her as a beloved figure in the hearts of the Orandans. Her laughter, reminding any who heard it of her late mother's memory, became a beacon of light in the palace, promising a bright future.

2012 - 2015

In the wake of King Voxv's mysterious and untimely demise—a hunting mishap whispered to be the veil for a covert regicide—Orando's royal citadel, usually a beacon of order and grandeur, descended into chaos. Princess Jeka, the rightful heir, was engulfed by her own sorrow, her days and nights spent in the cold embrace of the citadel's ancient stone as she mourned her father. It was during these moments of vulnerability that the castle's hallowed halls, where her coronation and her father's cremation preparations were underway, were breached.

Masked assailants, as silent as the grave and as swift as the sky-snakes of Orando's high cliffs, poured into the citadel under the cover of darkness. They descended upon the princess like a shadow upon the dawn. Overpowered and outnumbered, Jeka fought valiantly but was ultimately subdued, her spirit as indomitable as the warriors of old, her body less so. With brutal efficiency, the assailants whisked her away, smuggling her out of the city. It was a bitter irony that as her father's body lay in state, prepared for the sacred flames that would touch the sky in his honor, his daughter was borne away from the light of her homeland, likely due to the machinations of her grandmother, Vhagga.

For years, Jeka languished in the vile clutches of interstellar smugglers, her once-noble mien marred by the cruel administration of an addictive hallucinogenic narcotic—dubbed Zydranthea. The drug's potent effects suppressed her intrinsic powers, rendering her defenseless as it also inflicted a torturous mirage of sights and sounds, a grotesque masquerade that replaced her mind's perception of reality. In her clearer moments, the deprivation of Zydranthea tore through her with agonizing ferocity, leaving her yearning for the very poison that dulled her essence.

These harrowing cycles of hallucinogenic torment and violent withdrawal imprisoned her as certain as any cell. Yet, the same drug that subjugated her also became a perverse form of salvation; when her captors realized her intrinsic ability to weave illusions, they exploited it as a tool for their nefarious deeds, offering her doses of Zydranthea as both leash and reward.

And so, Princess Jeka's tale took a dark turn, from the vibrant heir to Orando's throne to a captive shadow of her former self, a pawn in the galactic underworld. The proud power of her royal blood became the currency of her survival in a universe far removed from the serene savannahs and lush red forests of her birthright.

2015 - 2018

The volatile relationship with these captors came to an abrupt end for Princess Jeka when the ruthless smuggling ring she was entangled with drew the ire of a far more formidable group—an Apokalyptan outfit known for their merciless ways and allegiance to the cosmic despot, Darkseid. The old smugglers were dispatched with swift brutality, and Jeka's fate hung by a thread. Yet, in her, the Apokalyptan criminals saw an asset. Her power's potency was quite rare, and they opted to exploit it rather than extinguish it, feeding her addiction to Zydranthea to ensure her compliance. For Jeka, the opulent palaces of her past were nothing but distant echoes, as the harsh reality of her dependence overshadowed her once-dignified existence. In her drug-riddled state, she hardly remembered her noble life. Her eyes saw a stranger in the mirror. Then, as fate would have it, the Apokalyptan smugglers' ventures led them to Earth. During what was meant to be a routine exchange, hidden away from Earthly eyes by Jeka's potent illusions, the intervention of the Advena Legion shattered the clandestine operation. As the Legionnaires burst onto the scene, Imra Ardeen easily dispelling Jeka's illusions with her narcotic-soaked mind. In the chaos that followed, Jeka fought to flee, only to be outmatched by the swift arrival of Lar Gand, who hoisted her into the stratosphere. The rush of air and the thinning atmosphere quickly overwhelmed her senses, plunging her into unconsciousness—a mercy compared to the clutches of her captors. Though the mercy was hard to see in that aftermath found Jeka in the grips of withdrawal, her coherence fractured by the relentless cycle of addiction. It was while being left to detox within the walls of Glacier Point, sharing medicinal teas and moments of tranquil meditation with Val Ar'Mar, that the fog of her mind began to lift. The clarity of self-realization dawned upon her, and the princess trapped within the husk of the addict emerged again. When the Advena Legion returned to continue their interrogation of her, they expected the disoriented captive they had initially encountered. However they were greeted instead by a traumatized noble Orandan instead. Jeka's confessions poured forth, providing valuable intelligence that would help unravel the operations of her former captors. With a full presidential pardon granted and her sins in America absolved, Jeka embraced a fresh start within the Advena Legion's training program. Side by side with Val Ar'Mar, Jeka faced the Advena Legion's training program the poise of a princess and the heart of a warrior, prepared to forge a new legacy on a world far from the one she once called home. 2018 - Present

So, after everything Jeka went through, you’d think she’d be all about keeping things strictly professional in the Advena Legion, right? Well, life’s got a funny way of throwing curveballs, and turns out, Val Ar'Mar ended up being more than just a battle buddy. Sure, he had a bit of a crush on her, but Jeka was holding back, you know? Something about the whole idea of getting cozy with someone not from her planet was a big no-no in her book.

But when she heard about Val’s little fling with Ayla Ranzz, man, did that hit a nerve. It made her realize she might be feeling more for the little guy than she was ready to admit. They had it out, right there in the middle of gearing up for a mission—Jeka basically called him out. And just before Val could offer an explanation or an excuse, bam, she plants one on him.

Ever since that kiss, it’s been a different vibe between them. They’re still pretty hush-hush about what's going on, keeping their cards close to their chest. But if you hang around the training room late enough, you might catch them sparring way past bedtime. All the sneaky glances and inside jokes—come on, it’s obvious they’re into each other.

But hey, they’re grown-ups, and they’re dealing with it in their own way. No drama, no over-the-top romance—just two people who’ve found something special while kicking butt and taking names. In the crazy world we live in, that’s probably as good as it gets.

High Orandan Physiology Jeka's unique physiology is the result of an illustrious lineage descending from two venerable Orandan species. Her noble blood carries the genetic imprint of the ancient (and extinct) Orandan dragons, a fact that elevates her status amongst her people and distinguishes her from the common populace. This ancient draconic heritage is said to bestow upon the nobility their intrinsic abilities and the regal bearing that marks the rulers of Orando with their serpentine eyes, distinct scales on their faces, and the elongated limbs that set them apart from the common folk. Hizaan ancestry, a humanoid species of primate-like evolution that serves as a common predecessor for all Orandans, also gives Jeka the shared traits with her subjects. Exactly what happened to the Hizaan and how they differ from modern Orandans is not fully understood, but the Lantern Corps believe that a good comparison is the relationship between Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals.

  • Enhanced Physicality: Not only does blood of the dragon bestow upon the nobility of Orandan their intrinsic abilities, it makes them faster, stronger, and more resilient than their common subjects. It's said that nobles live two to three times longer than their subjects as well. Jeka's strength is estimated to be in the order of Class II and she run up to three times faster than Earth's most capable athletes (approximately 50 MPH/ 80 km/h).

  • Enhanced Vision: Draconic eyes give Jeka the ability to see things that most sapient species are unable to perceive. Her eyes are capable of shifting their perspective through several visual mediums, enabling them to visualize heat, sound, light, intrinsic energy, and radiation.

  • Intrinsic Potential: Noble Orandans enjoy a heightened affinity for intrinsic manipulation. Even those that do not develop a signature ability or train in more in-depth intrinsic mastery, they tend to have a sensitivity and resistance to intrinsic activity in their presence.

  • Telepathic Reception: Jeka has a minor ability to probe the minds of those around her. She is able to detect some unguarded surface thoughts, but most of her ability allows her an insight into the fears and desires of those in her close proximity.

  • Telepathic Illusions: Jeka can project potent illusions into the minds of those around. Through reinforcing these illusions, she also affect the visual spectrum to make the illusion more likely to fool those with telepathic resistance. She can use these illusions to affect her voice as well, empowering her words with an almost hypnotic effect.

Hand-to-Hand Combat Working closely with Val Ar'Mar, Jeka is exceptionally skilled in martial arts. Combined her with speed, strength, and resilience, she's a very frightening opponent to come across. Nearly all of her body's joints are also double-jointed, allowing her to easily contort herself to escape joint-locks and grapples with remarkable ease - and making even more difficult for her opponents to escape her own joint-locks.

Swordplay Having trained extensively in the Orandan style of swordfighting, Jeka is a deadly fighter with a blade of any size or shape. She has translated these skills to the use of batons which she employs to subdue enemies, particularly when she is greatly outnumbered.

Advena Legion R.I.N.G. Belt

The Advena Legion's RING (Reinforced Inertia, Nullified Gravity) Belt is a cutting-edge piece of technology designed to enhance the operational capabilities of its members through advanced gravitational manipulation. This device, worn around the waist, serves multiple crucial functions, crucially adapting to the dynamic needs of the Legion during field missions.

The RING Belt is battery-powered, with energy reserves sufficient for several hours of sustained use under normal conditions. Users can toggle between its various functions via a control panel situated on the belt itself, allowing for quick adjustments even during active engagement. The technology behind the belt is a blend of cutting-edge Earth technology, combined with technology salvaged from previous alien incursions.

  • Inertia and Gravity Control: The RING Belt allows for the manipulation of gravitational forces surrounding the wearer, effectively enabling them to negate the effects of gravity. This technology can be used to replace traditional parachutes, allowing Legionnaires to safely drop into hotspots from significant heights without fear of injury upon landing. By finely adjusting the belt’s settings, users can control their descent speed and trajectory, making it possible to land with precision and readiness.

  • Defensive Field: Beyond gravity manipulation, the belt is equipped with an inertia reinforcement feature. This creates a protective field around the wearer that can alter the velocity of incoming projectiles, effectively slowing them down before impact. This field works by distorting the space around the wearer, making it more difficult for projectiles to maintain their original speed and trajectory, thereby providing a crucial defensive advantage in combat situations.

  • Levitation and Flight Capability: For extraction and maneuverability, the RING Belt includes a limited flight capability. Legionnaires can activate this feature to levitate or fly for short periods, enabling them to ascend from ground level to aerial vehicles or higher structures. While not designed for extended flight, this feature is invaluable for quick extractions and overcoming obstacles or terrain that would be impassable on foot.

  • Communications: The RING houses technology meant to bolster the signal of the Legion's communications equipment, allowing Legionnaires to remain in contact in almost location on Earth.

  • Kits: The RING can be easily fitted with a number of prepackaged kits with tools meant to aid the Legionnaires in the field. While most Legionnaires have their favorite kit loadouts, different kits can be taken for each mission - and kits can easily be swapped out through the use of the belt's quick-release/quick-attach system. Among the kits available for regular use are surveillance kit, first aid kit, forensic kit, tactical kit, capture kit, stealth kit, rations kit, relief kit, and survival kit.

LSF-1 Handgun

The Advena Legion's select-fire energy handgun represents the pinnacle of adaptive weaponry technology, specifically designed to offer a broad range of tactical options to suit various mission requirements. This compact, powerful sidearm features five distinct modes of fire, allowing Legionnaires to respond with appropriate force levels and tactics to diverse scenarios, from crowd control to lethal engagements.

A smart display integrated into the back of the gun allows the operator to swiftly toggle between modes based on situational needs. The weapon can also respond to voice commands or have its fire-mode switched remotely by the DEO handler or other off-site support operators monitoring the situation.

Built-in biometric sensors ensure that the weapon can only be activated by authorized users, reducing the risk of unauthorized or accidental discharge. Additionally, the gun logs usage data for review in compliance with the Advena Legion’s strict rules of engagement.

The Legion Select-Fire handgun may be a prototype, experimental weapon, but it has become a crucial asset for the Advena Legion, offering both flexibility and firepower in a single, easy-to-handle weapon. Whether enforcing peace in non-lethal situations or responding to high-threat environments, this handgun provides Legionnaires with the necessary tools to adapt quickly and effectively, upholding their mission to maintain safety and order across varied operational contexts.

  • Stun Mode: This mode emits a concentrated burst of electricity designed to incapacitate targets temporarily without causing permanent harm. The energy pulse disrupts the target's neuromuscular functions, rendering them momentarily paralyzed and disoriented, ideal for non-lethal takedowns.

  • Kinetic Mode: Utilizing kinetic energy waves, this mode can knock back or disperse groups of individuals without penetrating injuries. It is particularly effective for crowd control, creating space between the Legionnaires and hostile entities or managing civil disturbances with minimal risk of serious injury.

  • Pulse Mode: Emits rapid, low-intensity bursts of energy that can cause confusion and mild disorientation. This setting is suitable for disrupting hostile actions and gaining tactical advantage without escalating to lethal outcomes.

  • Incendiary Mode: This setting generates a concentrated heat beam that can be used to safely disable mechanical devices or create environmental obstacles (like burning a barrier). While not intended for use on personnel, it provides a strategic option for area denial and controlling the movement of hostile forces.

  • Lethal Mode: Reserved for extreme circumstances where deadly force is warranted, this mode delivers a high-energy beam capable of penetrating most known materials. This powerful setting is used strictly in compliance with engagement rules where lethal force is authorized.

Weaknesses

Arrogance: Jeka's upbringing and entire culture has convinced her she is simply better than not only common Orandans, but just about everybody else. Though, she is still progressive by Orandan standards, she can be a bit too much for others to handle for long periods of time, unless they are accustomed to her and have built a rapport with her. Jeka's more recent trauma has humbled her considerably, as has her relationship with Val and ongoing friendship with the other members of the Legion, but it seems she's not willing to completely let go of her princess identity, likely as she believes she'll need to hold onto that if she ever should be able to return to Orandan to reclaim her birthright.

Cold: Jeka struggles with freezing cold temperatures, becoming lethargic. You might think that's because she's exothermic, but it's not that. In fact, she's anything but cold-blooded as her shed blood can actually scald human flesh and burn through fabric with tremendous ease. But when her body gets too cold, her blood actually begins to cool down and move through the body more slowly, decreasing her body's ability to function.

Substance Abuse: Jeka retains an addiction to Zydranthea. Luckily, she's unlikely to relapse as the drug is more or less unheard of on Earth.

Planetary Background: Kathoon

In the depths of space, far from the warm embrace of its life-giving star, lies the planet Kathoon. A world shrouded in unyielding darkness, Kathoon’s surface knows neither dawn nor dusk, with thick, heavy clouds permanently obscuring the sky. Spewed from its world's many active volcanoes, these clouds are dense with minerals and compounds that block out nearly all light that ventures near, perpetuating the planet’s eternal night.

Despite its sunless state, Kathoon is far from a cold, dead rock. The planet teems with life, thanks to its vibrant geothermal activity. An energetic core churns beneath the surface, creating a network of subterranean hot springs, geysers, and vast underground oceans, warming the planet from within. This warmth has given rise to a rich tapestry of ecosystems that thrive in darkness, sustained by the thermal energy pulsating through the planet’s veins.

The native inhabitants, the Kathoonians, are a testament to the adaptability of life. Evolving in a world without sunlight, they are a race perfectly attuned to the shadows. Their skin is devoid of color, an ashen gray. Their large, complex eyes are their most notable feature, capable of seeing a spectrum of light beyond the comprehension of surface dwellers. These remarkable adaptations, however, come with a cost—Kathoonians suffer from acute sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation, which causes them considerable discomfort, making travel to other worlds a significant challenge.

Life on Kathoon unfolds in vast caverns and grottoes, where bioluminescent flora and fauna cast a ghostly glow on an otherworldly landscape. The architecture of the Kathoonians mirrors the organic, fluid forms carved by the flow of thermal waters. Their buildings are sculpted from the dark, basaltic rock, with luminous algae and fungi providing light and color to their otherwise dark world.

Kathoonian society is built on the principles of harmony with their environment and solidarity with one another. The darkness of their planet has fostered a communal spirit, with Kathoonians valuing the collective over the individual. Their myths and stories are rich with tales of the hidden things that dwell in the depths, and their philosophy emphasizes the understanding of the unseen and the unknown.

Kathoon's economy is primarily based on geothermal energy, which they have harnessed with remarkable efficiency. They are also known for their exquisite craftsmanship of dark stones and crystals found within their mines. While Kathoonians rarely travel off-world due to their sensitivity to UV radiation, they engage in interstellar trade via intermediaries, exchanging their unique minerals and geothermal technology for goods that can be utilized in their perpetually dark environment.

Technological innovation on Kathoon is centered around the manipulation of heat and the creation of light. Their machinery is powered by the planet’s geothermal energy, and their scientists have mastered the art of cultivating bioluminescent lifeforms, which they use for everything from illumination to artistic expression. They have developed specialized protective gear that allows them to visit the surface of other planets, shielding them from harmful radiation.

BIOGRAPHICAL TIMELINE

(Submitted by Jelly-Gal)

1993 - 2003

Lydda Jath's story began on her homeworld of Kathoon, a planet shrouded in perpetual darkness, warmed only by the heat from its churning core. Born to Vandak Jath, an esteemed scientist exploring the depths of Kathoon's subterranean biology, and Akraddi Jath, the formidable head of security for a remote research outpost. As a result of her parent's role and the environment in which she was raised, Lydda’s life was one of both privilege and isolation.

From a young age, Lydda was beset by a debilitating, incurable illness known as the Micerran Malaise that sapped her strength and confined her to the base' s infirmary for frequent treatments. Yet, Lydda's spirit was indomitable, and her parents' love unwavering. Her father’s pioneering work in medical science sought not only to cure her but to elevate the health of all Kathoonians.

The tranquility of their secluded existence was shattered when a marauding band of space pirates descended upon their facility. These corsairs, drawn by rumors of a precious compound at the core of Lydda's treatments, launched a ruthless assault. That valuable resource turned out to be the vats of the active ingredient in Lydda's treatments. Vandak and Akraddi valiantly resisted, understanding the magnitude of what was at stake—not just the wellbeing of their daughter, but the scientific advancements that could revolutionize their world. In a tragic confrontation, a final stand between the researchers and the pirates, Vandak and Akraddi were slain, leaving Lydda orphaned and the facility in ruins.

2003 - 2006

In the aftermath, Lydda was among the few survivors captured by the pirates. The brigands, recognizing the potential value of their captives, plotted to sell them to the highest bidder. But Lydda’s visible fragility and her frequent bouts of illness diminished her worth in the eyes of callous slavers—prompting them to refuse the purchase of the Kathoonian youth.

Consigned to the lowest rungs of servitude aboard the vessel of her captors and her parent's murderers, Lydda was tasked with menial labor in the mess hall, a far cry from the care and comforts of her past. The strain of her new existence exacerbated her condition, threatening to snuff out her dwindling vitality without her treatment.

Refusing to succumb to her illness or risk being jettisoned into the void for not doing her job, Lydda drew upon her keen intellect and the fragments of her father’s teachings to devise a desperate plan. She began to filch small samples of the essential ingredients from the pirates' own cargo—the very spoils for which her parents had given their lives.

In the stifling confines of the brig, where she was quartered, Lydda's nimble hands mixed concoctions with an intuition born of years watching her father work. The stakes were high, for a single miscalculation could spell her end, but Lydda had seen her father mix the formula hundreds of times before. Her resourcefulness and determination would pay off. The makeshift treatments stabilized her condition, granting her enough strength to meet the daily demands of her captors and avoid a grim fate.

Lydda's life took an unexpected turn when the pirate crew overran a bustling asteroid mining colony. The pirates decided to operate the colony as a front for their other endeavors. In the process of reassigning crew, Lydda was assigned from the drudgery of the ship's mess hall to serve aboard the asteroid facility. However, the overseer of the base decided that Lydda had no place in the kitchen and preferred to use her as his personal housekeeper.

2006 - 2009

Lydda found making her treatments more difficult on the asteroid belt. However, her new role gave her access to the overseer's communications terminal and she used to add some important orders to the base's monthly supply delivery. She was able to operate this way for years without anyone taking interest in the obscure medical supplies being delivered and later going missing... but all good things come to an end. When Lydda's actions were discovered, she was prepared for being jettisoned from an airlock. However, as she was sealed in, ready to be launched out to space—a strange miracle occurred as a loud alarm rang out and the base began to tremble. Lydda's unlikely savior was the Brainiac fleet, who decided the pirate's mining/smuggling operation was a good source for their own resupply stop.

When Lydda was discovered still sealed in the airlock, the Brainiac fleet took her into custody, along with the asteroid's base's supplies and other surviving residents—including the Braalian slave, Rokk Krinn. 2009 - 2013

In the wake of the devastating assault on the asteroid, the fates of Lydda and the other survivors from the mining colony were decided by Brainiac. The merciless collector of knowledge deemed most of the survivors expendable, but chose to spare Lydda and the Braalian, Rokk Krinn. Apparently, he found both to be "exceptional specimens," worthy of further analysis. The reason why Brainiac would say as much about Lydda, a frail Kathoonian in the midst of advanced stages of Micerran Malaise, left the Kathoonian child confused. While Rokk and she were confined within the sterile walls of a shared cell, Lydda would often stay awake during sleeping hours to wonder. Her answer would come soon enough, when Brainiac's minions took her into an laboratory and began injecting her with medications, drugs, and various other chemicals. The purpose of these procedures was to flush out Lydda's system. It turns out that the treatments she had been taking for years was a meta-gene suppressor and Micerran Malaise was simply the Kathoonian anatomy's reaction to an activating meta-gene. With her system flushed, Lydda was returned to her cell to let her Micerran Malaise playout.

During this time, when Lydda was going through her treatments withdrawals and succumbing to the full effects of Micerran Malaise, Lydda was cared for by Rokk. At least, he looked after her when he was not removed from the cell to be subjected to his own experimentations meant to activate his meta-gene. The close-quarters and their shared tragic histories saw the two's bond grow more intense, eventually leading to the two becoming friends... and lovers. The distraction of friendship and intimacy gave Lydda a reason to survive. When Rook's own meta-gene activated, it revealed he possessed magnetic powers, which he used to sneak about the starship to bring Lydda extra food or comforts to ease her experience. However, when Rokk's theft of supplies were discovered, he was taken from Lydda's cell and housed elsewhere. Without Rokk to assist her, Lydda nearly died. Her pain, both physical and emotional, was unbearable. But still, somehow, someway, Lydda managed to survive to see the other side. One morning, Lydda woke to find her breathing unlabored, her muscles free of ache or discomfort, and her joint loose and without throbbing pain. What she didn't know, however, was what powers her metagene may have given her. It would be days before Lydda would learn that, when the ship she was aboard began to break apart. Desperate to escape her cell so she might find Rokk and either escape with him or at least spend her final moments with him, Lydda pounded on her cell door. All to no avail, at least until the power went out. In that brief instant, between the lights going out and the emergency power kicking in, Lydda struck her cell door and, to her surprise, the barrier flew across the corridor. Free of captivity, but with little time to wonder what had gotten into her, Lydda ran in search for an escape pod. Unfortunately, she didn't make it that far. A hull breach sucked Lydda into Earth's upper atmosphere, luckily the ship was on the dark side of Earth... 2013 - 2017

After having her hair and clothing burned up by entry through Earth's atmosphere and slamming into the ocean, Lydda was rightfully surprised to find she survived. She did not have much time to think on that, however as she had a long swim ahead of her. When Lydda reached the shore, the sun was rising and with it, Lydda felt her remarkable strength give way to tired muscles and a frailty more reasonable for the malnourished Kathoonian that she was. Lydda was able to drag herself to a beachside cave and took refuge there. As she stepped out of the direct sunlight, Lydda felt a measure of her strength returned to her and, just like that, she began to realize what her meta-gene might be, that being incredible strength and invulnerability—which would fade with her exposure to light and being completely sapped of her powers in direct sunlight. Going forward, Lydda began exploring this alien world. Discovering she was in Vlatava, Lydda found she could pass for humans at a distance, in the dark, or with some makeup or clothing to disguise her alien features. Lydda slowly learned the local language and fell in with Vlatava's criminal element to earn money for food and clothing. As crime rates spike at night, Lydda's new powers serve her well as a thief, thug, and enforcer for a variety of outfits. As Lydda became more secure in her survival, she began looking for ways to get out of crime. This coincided with her maturing from the scared alien on a strange world to an adult now aware of her actions hurting people. Wanting to find a way to use her powers for good, she began to do some research and this helped her learn of the Advena Program which was being developed in America. She reached out to the DEO, but got no reply due to her not being in American jurisdiction (and likely due to some Vlatavan translation errors making it appear she was a Vlatavan national asking for specific details on confidential DEO files). However, when President Luthor made his televised announcement of the Advena Legion, appearing on stage with several aliens, Lydda took notice of one particular alien standing next to President Luthor: her mate, Rokk Krinn. Of course, Lydda was over the moon to learn Rokk was alive and so, she reached out to the DEO again, this time leaving a message in her native Kathoonian. This required the Advena Legion's input on the alien language and when Rokk heard the recording of the language, the voice, and the message itself, he knew it was Lydda. For the sake of brevity and so I don't implicate the Advena Legion in any less-than-legal activity that may have triggered an international incident, let's just say Rokk helped get Lydda to America and the DEO then worked to get Lydda's legal issues resolved while she was undergoing American language and culture training as part of preparing her to join the Advena Legion.

As soon as Lydda and Rokk were reunited, their romantic relationship picked up where it left off. So much so that by the time Lydda was announced as a new addition to the Legionnaires, she was pregnant with her and Rokk's child. 2017 - Present

Toward the end of Lydda's pregnancy, the Advena Legion began an especially high-stakes investigation against a notorious alien smuggling ring linked to the Apokalyptan cult, the Church for the Righteous Invasion of the Monarch Exalted. This group, led on Earth by the infamous Bruno Mannheim, was deep into some dark dealings including weapons and human trafficking. This particular mission hit close to Lydda, even though her pregnancy and still lingering legal issues had her benched to reserve Legionnare status, as the alien smugglers working with the Earth-based Apokalyptan cult had some ties to Lydda's former pirate captors and had even visited the asteroid mining colony where Lydda worked as the overseer's housekeeper. However, this investigation was even more personal for Rokk, revealing a painful family secret: his younger brother, Pol, whom he hadn't seen for nearly two decades, was a member of the alien smuggling ring. Their reunion was nothing short of a soap opera episode — full of tension and unresolved issues. Pol, unlike Rokk who still clung to ideals of justice and heroism, had become jaded and cynical, seeing vulnerability as a weakness to be exploited.

In a twist that feels straight out of a drama series, Pol pretended to turn over a new leaf to gain asylum with the Legion, only to betray them from the inside. Pol weakened Legion communications and also orchestrated a kidnapping of Lydda, along with Lucy Lane and Gatekeeper. You may be wondering, to what end? To force Rokk to hand over some powerful weapons and technology previously seized by the Legion. Rokk, always the strategist, played along only long enough to turn the tables on Pol and his cronies in a showdown. This high-stakes sibling rivalry ended in tragedy: when in the heat of the confrontation, Rokk was forced to take drastic actions that resulted in Pol’s death.

After burying Pol and reflecting on the whole heartbreaking saga, Rokk and Lydda agreed to named their newborn son after his brother, in a Braalian tradition to find some redemption and peace for the ancestor.

Kathoonian Physiology The natives of Kathoon are known for their remarkably complex eyes, ashen gray skin, and bright hair colors. As a naturally nocturnal species, Kathoonians are also known to have an aversion to direct sunlight.

  • Enhanced Durability: The tough conditions of Kathoon have endowed Kathoonians with a body that withstands physical stress better than that of ordinary humans. Her skeletal structure is denser, and her muscles are highly efficient at conserving energy, which provides her with greater endurance and resilience.

  • Enhanced Vision: Lydda's vision is hyper-attuned to detect even the faintest light sources, a necessary trait for navigating the pitch-black environment of Kathoon. Her eyes can perceive a broader spectrum of light than humans, including infrared, which allows her to see heat signatures in complete darkness.

Activated Metagene

Kathoonians with activated metagenes are rather rare due to the often fatal illness that comes with having a metagene, usually resulting in the deaths of Kathoonian metas in childhood. Lydda was able to survive due to a suppressive medication throughout her childhood and the emotional support and caretaking by a loved one when she was older and had her system flushed of the medications by Brainiac. However, due to the Kathoonian allergy to UV radiation, her metagene's effects diminished when exposed to light (and outright negated when in direct sunlight).

  • Enhanced Strength: Lydda, at her peak, has strength roughly equivalent to that of a Kryptonian or Daxaminte. So, in absolute darkness, Lydda's strength is classified as Class VI or Class VII (test results have varied, with tests done in the lab claim Class VII but field reports seem to indicate Class VIII is more accurate). At night, under moonlight and/or ambient city light, Lydda's strength seems to be at Class IV or V, depending on exact environmental lighting. In a well-lit room, Lydda's might seems to be Class I.

  • Invulnerability: Lydda is practically indestructible when she is in absolute darkness, bulletproof under moonlight, and highly-resistant to damage when under moderate, artificial lighting.

  • Regeneration: When not exposed to light, Lydda's cells have an enhanced ability to rapidly repair themselves. This regenerative healing is not instantaneous, and requires rest, but the darker environment she can find to rest in, the faster she will recover.

Criminal Insight Having been around criminals both Earthly and extraterrestrial, Lydda has a keen understanding of the criminal underworld. Though she has been given a presidential pardon to exonerate her on her criminal history, Lydda is hesitant to use this knowledge as she would prefer to put this stuff in her past and not be reminded of it. Still, she has used her insight when she can help protect innocent people.

Hand-to-Hand Combat Lydda is not the best hand-to-hand fighter, mostly relying on her exceptional strength rather than formal techniques. Still, she has been trained to sufficient standards to serve in the Advena Legion.

Resourcefulness

Having survived the harsh environment of a pirate ship and a resource-limited settings of her parents' research facility and the smuggler's mining colony, Lydda has learned to be exceptionally skilled at improvising with whatever materials are at hand. She is adept at using common items in unconventional ways to solve problems or create useful tools.

Science Growing up in an alien advanced research facility, Lydda has a more profound understanding of advanced scientific principles than most would expect, particularly involving biochemistry and pharmacology.

Stealth and Subterfuge

Lydda's time among pirates taught her the importance of moving quietly and remaining unnoticed. She has learned how to blend into shadows, move silently, and manipulate her environment to avoid detection. This skill extends to social subterfuge, where she is capable of manipulating conversations and situations to her advantage without drawing attention.

Weaknesses

Isolation Impact: Lydda's prolonged periods of isolation, both in the research facility and during her captivity, have affected her social skills and emotional responses. She may react with excessive caution or distrust, particularly in new or stressful situations, which can hinder her ability to work effectively in team settings or form new friendships.

Psychological Trauma: The trauma of losing her parents and surviving abduction and captivity has left deep psychological scars. These experiences have instilled a sense of perpetual vigilance in Lydda, leading to difficulty in forming close relationships and occasional bouts of anxiety or paranoia. When backed into a corner, Lydda will put her survival (and that of her loved ones) above all else.

Ultraviolet Light Sensitivity: Kathoonians have a natural allergy to ultraviolet radiation. When working in daylight, Lydda must constantly wear protective sunglasses and/or apply special creams to shield her skin from sunlight - and should still limit her exposure. Without these precautions, Lydda is prone to getting migraines and sunburns. Furthermore, light of any kind agitates her physiology in a way to hamper her metagenic abilities, with direct sunlight completely negating her metagene.

Planetary Background: Winathian

The planet Winath orbits a lush, vibrant star known as Amarta, which bathes this verdant world in warm, life-giving light. It is the third planet in its star system [Sector 2809] and enjoys an almost idyllic climate, characterized by mild temperatures, gentle breezes, and frequent, nourishing rains that support its rich and diverse ecosystems. Winath's days are long and filled with light, creating extended periods of growth and harvest that are crucial for its agrarian-based economy.

The dominant lifeforms on Winath are the Winathians, a humanoid race known for their deep connection to their environment and communal lifestyle. Winathians are a sapient species that exhibit a wide range of hair and skin colors. The Winathian complexion ranges from umber browns to copper orange to azure blue; and the hair color of a Winathian usually matches the individual's skin. Nearly all Winathians are born as twins, which has profoundly shaped their culture and social structures around dualities and partnerships. Winathians born without a twin, or whose twin has perished, are usually shunned by the society.

Culturally, Winathians are known for their minimalistic approach to clothing due to the planet's favorable climate. They generally forgo garments, finding them unnecessary except for protective purposes. Tourists visiting Winath are encouraged to embrace this local custom, though a ceremonial loincloth is permitted. Essential protective gear like footwear, gloves, and masks are also acceptable when engaging in specific activities that require such protections.

Winath's society is primarily agrarian, with communities tightly knit around large, cooperative farms that dominate the landscape. These farms are not only centers of agricultural production but also communal gathering places where Winathians celebrate their harvests and share in the fruits of their labor. The planet's economy thrives on this agricultural abundance, exporting excess crops across the galaxy, which has made Winath something of the Lantern Corps' breadbasket.

Despite its pastoral serenity, Winath's location near an asteroid field on the edge of its solar system provides a natural defense, making travel to and from the planet challenging. This seclusion has helped preserve Winath's peaceful way of life, largely untouched by galactic conflicts. However, the Lantern Corps recognizes the strategic and economic importance of Winath, maintaining a protective presence to safeguard its agrarian outputs and ensure the stability of this vital resource hub in Lantern space.

BIOGRAPHICAL TIMELINE

(Submitted by Jelly-Gal)

1992 - 2010

Ayla Ranzz shares her origins with her twin brother Garth on the lush, twin-prevalent planet of Winath. Though twins are so commonplace on Winath that "singling" are a discriminated minority, Garth and Ayla were an unusual set of twins. While identical twins are the norm on Winath, fraternal/sororal twins practically unheard of. However, Garth and Ayla weren't fraternal twins, they were near-identical, marked by a unique genetic twist that saw Ayla change her gender while still in the womb. The anomaly of Garth and Ayla's birth only deepened the bond between them. From their strange birth, Ayla and Garth were inseparable, their relationship fortified by a deep telepathic connection that is characteristic of Winathian twins. This psychic link facilitated their rapid emotional and cognitive development, allowing them to communicate complex thoughts and feelings without words and learn at an accelerated rate. Their unique connection stood in stark contrast to the isolated upbringing of their older brother, Mekt, who as a singling faced exclusion and loneliness. Unlike other Winathian families that typically blend into their serene and communal society, the Ranzz family was noted for its streak of non-conformity. For generations, the Ranzzes were known as rebels and misfits, often clashing with the societal norms that otherwise dictated peaceful and uniform community life. This rebellious spirit did not skip Ayla and Garth, who, despite or perhaps because of their uncommon gender pairing and the notorious reputation of their clan, found themselves often at odds with mainstream Winathian culture. Their familial love, however, remained strong and unaffected by external perceptions. Ayla, with her bright and adventurous spirit, always saw her brothers not as outcasts but as integral parts of her life. Together, the trio formed a resilient unit, helping each other confront various societal challenges. Ayla, in particular, cherished the inclusivity of her family, loving every moment she shared with her brothers.

2010 - 2011

Disenchanted with the societal perceptions that surrounded them on Winath, Ayla Ranzz and her brothers made the decision to leave their home planet following the tragic demise of their parents in a tragic forest fire. The Ranzz trio joined a militia squadron aligned with the Lantern Corps to protect the Winathians' planetary system. Mekt, utilizing his mechanical prowess, maintained their spacecraft, while Ayla and Garth served valiantly as Lantern Rangers among a crew of seven mostly Winathian mercenaries.

A distressing episode unfolded during a routine patrol on the moon of Korbal. Responding to a distress call from a local farmstead under siege, Ayla and her brothers, along with their squadron, discovered a gruesome scene: a farm ravaged by Korbalian Toads—a species far more formidable and ferocious than their mundane name suggested. They arrived to find the creatures still engrossed in their macabre feast on the unfortunate victims.

Caught off-guard by the sheer number of these voracious enemies, the squadron suffered immediate and devastating losses. Yet, the Ranzz siblings' knack for unconventional tactics, honed by years of dealing with adversity, allowed them to withstand the initial onslaught. Mekt quickly assumed the role of protector, laying down suppressive fire and urging his siblings to retreat to their ship. In the chaos, however, a Korbalian Toad overpowered him, and as Garth intervened to save Mekt, the creature viciously severed his left arm.

Ayla, fueled by the adrenaline of feeling her twin brother's intense pain and anguish, dashed into the fray without hesitation. In a desperate struggle, she and Garth managed to push the attacking toad against a lightning collection array. The timing was catastrophic yet fortuitous, as a lightning bolt struck the array, sending a surge of electricity through the toad and into the bodies of the Ranzz siblings.

Miraculously, all three Winathian siblings survived the electrocution, adorned with scar tissue that eerily mimicked the jagged patterns of lightning strikes, and discovered themselves imbued with residual electric powers. Despite these newfound abilities, the immediate concern was Garth's grievous injury. With Garth's life hanging in the balance, Ayla and Mekt swiftly transported him back to their ship to perform an urgent liftoff.

As the squadron’s pilot lay among the casualties, Mekt and Ayla were forced to rely on the ship's autopilot. They initiated an emergency protocol that broadcasted a distress signal detailing their critical situation. Just as they escaped Korbal’s orbit, they found themselves intercepted by the ominous fleet of Brainiac's menagerie...

2011 - 2015

As Garth's condition deteriorated, slipping in and out of consciousness, Ayla was overwhelmed by fear and pain, feeling every ounce of her twin's agony through their profound telepathic connection. She tried to distract him, talking about memories and future plans, anything to ease his mind from the searing pain. But when Brainiac's fleet ensnared their ship in a tractor beam, the situation escalated rapidly. Mekt, determined and resolute, decided to take action. He instructed Ayla to remain with Garth, while he would make a daring attempt to break free from their captors by assaulting them and heading for the cargo bay controls to release their ship.

Ayla protested, her voice tinged with desperation, but Mekt was unyielding. Asserting his role as the elder brother, he felt it his duty to protect them, leaving Ayla torn between her fear for Mekt and the immediate need to care for Garth. With her mind clouded by the fear of losing her brother, she could find no words to dissuade Mekt from his perilous plan.

As Mekt charged out of the ship, his shouts and the crackles of lightning bolts he flung at their captors filled the air. Ayla found a grim comfort in these sounds, signs that Mekt's plan was unfolding. But as he moved further away, the sounds faded, seeding doubt in her heart.

Curiosity and concern for Garth's rapidly failing health spurred Ayla to peek outside. The cargo bay was a scene of chaos, with Brainiac's minions defeated and medical supplies scattered amidst the wreckage. Seizing the moment, she rushed out, grabbing all the medical aids she could carry. But as she did, reinforcements stormed into the bay. Heart pounding, Ayla darted back to the ship, narrowly escaping their clutches.

With Garth's condition critical, Ayla ignored the clamps releasing and the blast doors opening. Her focus was solely on treating Garth, her hands moving deftly with medical supplies to stabilize him. Outside, the sounds of destruction grew louder as Brainiac's minions began to breach the ship, but Ayla's attention remained unwaveringly on her brother.

Once Garth was stable, Ayla hurriedly helped him into a spacesuit, preparing for any possibility of escape. But as she finally took the controls to prepare for takeoff, her heart sank. The blast doors slammed shut, and the docking clamps re-engaged, trapping them. Ayla's hopes, fueled by Mekt's sacrifice, were dashed in an instant.

Resigned yet resolute, Ayla returned to Garth's side, choosing to be with him in what might be their final moments. But as they braced for the end, Brainiac's minions stormed the ship's interior. They tore Ayla away from Garth, ripping off her spacesuit and injecting her with a sedative. As consciousness faded, her last thoughts were of her brothers, their shared struggles, and a fervent hope for Garth's survival.

It would be years before Ayla would wake again as the minions put Ayla in cold storage, meaning to experiment on her in due time. However, that time never came.

2015 - 2017

Ayla finally awakened from her deep, cold slumber after she was discovered by the DEO, two years after her brother Garth had been taken into custody and four years since she had first been frozen. The initial recovery was traumatic. Disoriented and suffering from cold sickness, she reacted violently, mistaking the DEO agents for her previous captors.

Even though Garth was on hand to calm her, Ayla's fierce outburst led to her confinement at Glacier Point, a secretive military prison in Antarctica, where she was deemed a high-security risk after injuring several agents. During her imprisonment, Garth, along with his Titanian girlfriend Imra, made frequent visits. Ayla harbored a strong resentment towards Imra, whom she perceived as a manipulative presence in Garth’s life. This tension only deepened when Garth decided to join the newly-formed Advena Legion, influenced by Imra despite Ayla's objections. Feeling betrayed, Ayla's feelings towards Imra soured further.

It is here that is probably a good time to mention that Ayla had long held an interest in same-sex attraction. It was something that she buried so deep within herself that even Garth did not seem to be aware of it. It is possible that Ayla was jealous that Garth had found a beautiful female companion where she was still too scared of admitting such to herself.

Eventually Ayla was relocated to a detention camp for alien refugees as part of a deal involving Garth's cooperation with the DEO. Ayla tried to carve out a new existence there, and started an intimate relationship with the Rimborian detainee Jo'Nah. However, this simply served more as a facade for her to buy herself time as she tried to mentally navigate her complex feelings and maintain a semblance of normalcy.

It was while engaged in this relationship that Ayla also met Salu Digby, an Imskian who quickly discerned the true nature of Ayla's affections. Salu's playful and sometimes overt advances challenged Ayla's public persona, leading to a brief but intense encounter that forced Ayla to confront her true feelings... if only briefly, resulting in the two females sharing an intimate moment that only served to throw Ayla into her ruse with Jo'Nah further.

Amidst this emotional chaos, Ayla finally decided to follow in her brother's footsteps and joined the Advena Legion’s second wave of recruits. To her surprise, both Jo'Nah and Salu were also members of this wave of recruits. The presence of both these figures made the situation even more complicated for Ayla. Needing space and a pretext to distance herself from Jo'Nah, she ended their relationship under the guise of needing to focus on her training—a mere cover for her real disinterest as Ayla's telepathic connection to Garth meant the training was more or less pointless for her. She already had all the skills she needed at her disposal.

As training progressed, Ayla threw herself drawn into a new relationship with Dirk Morgna, whose dynamic personality and compatible nature provided her the emotional escape she needed. This relationship, unlike her previous entanglements, was intense and genuine, aligning well with Ayla’s spirited and forthright demeanor, allowing her to connect with him on some level, even if she wasn't genuinely attracted to him.

Throughout her time with the Legion's training program, Ayla continued to grapple with her internal conflicts and her evolving identity. Salu’s persistent flirtations remained a constant challenge, pushing Ayla to continually reassess her feelings.

2017 - Present

As training gave way to active duty, as a fully-endorsed Legionnaire, Ayla's fleeting involvement with Dirk Morgna came to an end—a breakup that, though positioned as practical due to their new roles as Legionnaires, was once pierced by Salu Digby's keen observations. As time passed, Ayla's romantic endeavors expanded to include casual sexual relationships with newer recruits Ryand'r and Brin Londo, along with a fleeting encounter with Val Ar'Mar after an emotionally charged sparring session. She also would fall back on Dirk whenever the opportunity presented itself for such distraction.

Concurrent with her complex web of sexual liaisons, Ayla found herself increasingly reliant on Earth's alcoholic beverages, using it as a crutch to brace against her reckless lifestyle and all the lies that were coming down upon her. Recognizing the signs of spiraling depression, Salu felt compelled to intervene, marking a pivotal turn in their interactions. Despite initially perceiving Salu as a threat to her hidden truths, Ayla gradually acknowledged that Salu had, in fact, been protecting her privacy. Salu's discretion, choosing to challenge Ayla privately rather than exposing her, helped forge a new level of trust and understanding between them. This realization allowed Ayla to explore a more sincere and personal relationship with Salu, even as she maintained more public liaisons with the various male Legionnaires, driven by her uncertainty about the acceptance of her true identity. The secret affair between Ayla and Salu was thrown into chaos when Yera Daggle, a Durlan with the ability to shapeshift, accidentally learned of their lesbian hook-ups. In a convoluted plan, Yera impersonated Salu to engage with Gim Allon, Salu's own heterosexual side-piece. Eventually Salu learned what Yera was doing and forced her to admit it, but in doing so, Yera also leaked that it was her learning of Salu and Ayla's romance that had started the whole thing. Outed as a lesbain, Ayla decided it was time to come clean with the Legion. While many teammates were accepting, the disclosure stung Ryand'r and Brin deeply. Dirk was actually more attracted to Ayla than ever after learning. Ryand'r and Brin both felt used, realizing that their relationships with Ayla had lacked the romantic sincerity they believed them to have. This revelation not only strained her relationships with several teammates but also forced her and Garth to have a sincere discussion, upon which both admitted their telepathic connection was not as perfect and infalliable as they had always assumed. With the birth of her brother's daughters, Ayla became an aunt. This was a much needed lighter moment in her life that had become increasingly heavy. Ayla embraced the reprieve and jumped at every chance she could to babysit the Winathian-Titanian hybrid babies. This also marked a chance for Ayla to approach Imra and finally put aside the grudge she had held for years. Imra and Ayla's new friendship continues to grow stronger everyday.

Winathian Physiology As a native of Winath, Ayla Ranzz's physiology is well-suited to the planet's almost idyllic conditions. Winathians are known for their vibrant health and vitality, thanks in part to their planet's rich agriculture and congenial climate. Notably, almost all Winathians are born in pairs of identical twins.

  • Unusual Twin: Similar to Carggites, Winathians are usually born as multiples. Ayla, like most of his species, was born with a twin. However, unlike the vast majority of Winathian twins, Ayla and her twin Garth were born of a different gender as Ayla was conceived as male but had a rare mutation that had altered her gender shortly after they split - changing her from Garth's identical twin brother to a near-identical twin sister.

  • Twin Telepathy: From birth, Garth and Ayla shared a telepathic bond that allowed for silent communication and a shared learning experience, heightening their cognitive and social development.

  • Enhanced Stamina: With her Winathian constitution, Ayla enjoys stamina and durability exceeding that of humans, allowing her to exert herself at peak capacity for prolonged periods.

Activated Metagene

Ayla's metagene was activated during an incident involving an encounter with the lethal fauna of Korbal and a subsequent electrical overload. As a result, he gained the ability to generate and manipulate electricity.

  • Electrokinesis: Ayla has the power to generate intense electrical energy, which she can harness to project lightning bolts, create electrical shields, and power up devices. Her control over electricity allows her to stun or incapacitate foes, as well as to charge or short-circuit machinery. Due to having two functional organic arms, Ayla's mastery of electrokinesis seems to exceed her brother's own.

  • Electric Absorption: Ayla can absorb electrical energy from external sources to replenish her own power reserves or to redirect the absorbed energy in offensive or defensive ways.

  • Electric Senses: Ayla can detect electrical signals and currents in her environment, giving her an awareness that aids in navigation, tracking, and anticipating mechanical or electrical actions.

Leadership Much like her brother, Garth, Ayla's experience, first among the Lantern Rangers and now with the Advena Legion, has honed her leadership abilities. She adeptly strategizes, inspiring confidence and encouraging cooperation amongst his diverse teammates within the Advena Legion. However, unlike her brother, Ayla had no interest in promotion. Still, she was given the rank of Legion Captain, more or less against her will.

Hand-to-Hand Combat Through her tenure with the Legion, Ayla has received comprehensive combat training, developing a proficiency in hand-to-hand combat that ensures his capability in close-quarters engagements. Combining this with her electrical abilities, Ayla is a deadly hand-to-hand combatant.

Survival Ayla's upbringing on a planet of agricultural abundance did not shield her from the lessons of survival. She is adept at foraging and tracking in the wilderness.

Weaknesses

Electrical Overload: Despite Ability's ability to generate and manipulate electricity, there is a limit to how much charge her body can safely handle. Overuse of her powers, or using her powers while doused in water, can lead to a dangerous overload. This could not only cause her powers to become temporarily erratic or shut down but also result in severe physical harm or unconsciousness.

Emotional Instability: Though much more in control of her emotions than her brother, Ayla can suffer from severe mood swings when stressed - particularly when deprived of time from her brother or her girlfriend Salu Digby.

Psychological Strain: Ayla’s profound telepathic connection with her brother Garth has diminished. The loss of this constant, comforting presence could potentially lead to moments of psychological vulnerability, where feelings of isolation or disconnection might impede her focus or emotional stability.

Substance Abuse: Ayla has a drinking problem. Though this can be managed by Salu Digby or her brother Garth, if others try to tell her she has a problem or intervene, Ayla can become violent - particularly if she is on a period of binge-drinking.

BIOGRAPHICAL TIMELINE

(Submitted by Jelly-Gal)

1961 - 1976

Hatched amidst the stars aboard the space frigate Nomad's Bounty, Tinya Wazzo's earliest memories were not of a singular world but of the vast expanses of space that stretched endlessly before her. Her mother, Winema Wazzo, was a revered merchant known across many star systems for her keen ability to procure and sell antiquities and rare wares that were as unique as they were valuable. The Nomad's Bounty was more than just a spacecraft; it was a traveling marketplace, a cultural hub that bridged worlds through trade and exchange.

Tinya's childhood was an unconventional one to be sure, exposed to countless cultures and civilizations. Unlike most children her age, Tinya didn’t grow up with a backyard or a neighborhood playground. Instead, her playground was the cargo bays filled with mysterious artifacts and her backyards were the docking stations of distant planets. While Winema piloted the ship and maintained its myriad systems, Tinya and her two sisters, Linnya and Enya, were immersed in a rigorous educational regimen aboard the ship.

Winema, a stern yet fair teacher, insisted that her daughters learn the languages, laws, and customs of the planets they dealt with. This knowledge was crucial not only for the success of their business but also for ensuring the family’s safety in the often volatile world of interstellar trade. As Linnya and Enya were the older siblings, they naturally gravitated towards the business aspects of their mother’s trade. They both excelled in innovation, advertising, and finance, often devising new strategies to expand the Nomad's Bounty’s reach and profitability.

Tinya, however, was drawn to a different aspect of their travels. She had a deep-seated fascination with the people they met. Her mother’s transactions were not just exchanges of goods but were gateways into the lives and stories of others. Tinya would often be found at her mother's side during negotiations, not discussing prices or terms, but listening intently to the stories that every artifact carried with it. She absorbed the tales of distant worlds and strange customs like a sponge, dreaming of the day she might set foot on those worlds herself and experience their cultures firsthand.

As the Nomad's Bounty traversed from one star system to another, Tinya's role began to take shape. Even though still an adolescent, she became the face of the Wazzo family to many of their clients. While her sisters worked to secure lucrative contracts, Tinya devoted herself to the personal side of their operations. She vould spend hours with a single client, not just selling but connecting. She learned to read their expressions, to hear the unspoken words behind their spoken thoughts. She was particularly adept at finding the perfect item that would catch a client’s eye, not necessarily the most expensive or rarest, but the one that resonated with them on a personal level.

These interactions were not about profit for Tinya; they were about forging connections. She ensured that whether or not a sale was made, every client left with a sense of having been truly seen and understood. This unique approach did not always align with her mother’s more profit-driven strategies, leading to occasional friction aboard the Nomad's Bounty. Yet, Winema could not deny the goodwill that Tinya’s warmth and genuine interest in their clients brought to their family business.

Tinya was fourteen when she first met Murl, the alien her mother described as her father. Murl managed a remote space station and mining colony in an asteroid belt of a star system devoid of habitable planets and was visibly different from Tinya and her sisters, exhibiting purple skin, yellow eyes, and bulbous, slimy features suggesting amphibian ancestry. Despite these differences, Tinya’s sisters explained that Murl’s species had a unique genetic trait that allowed them to interbreed with various species, which their mother had advantageously used not only for securing better deals on fuel and repairs but also for conceiving children in a region where Bzgtlians were rare. This arrangement also provided extra help for their mother’s business ventures.

[(Author's Note: If you are reading between the lines, you might come to the belief that Tinya and her sisters may be some sort of naturally conceived clone of their mother. If so, you're not the only one to make this assumption, however until Winema, Linnya, and/or Enya are recovered we cannot be certain.)]

1976

A visit to Krypton, a world renowned for its advanced technology and deeply entrenched societal structures, was supposed to be a routine business stop for a now pregnant Winema Wazzo and her daughters, Tinya, Linnya, and Enya. The family had docked at one of Krypton's bustling spaceports, ready to trade their unique collection of interstellar antiquities. The atmosphere was charged with the usual excitement and the busy hum of commerce, as the Wazzos set up their stall, displaying their exotic wares.

However, the day took a tragic turn when a bombing at a nearby public gathering claimed dozens of Kryptonian lives. The shockwaves of the explosion rippled through the spaceport, sending the crowd into a panic. Amidst the chaos, the common sentiment of xenophobia that lurked beneath the surface of Kryptonian society quickly came to the forefront. Krypton, while technologically advanced, harbored a deep-seated distrust of outsiders, partly fueled by its isolated development and the teachings of its dominant religious and cultural institutions.

As the dust settled, the grief and anger of the Kryptonians found a convenient outlet. The newly arrived Bzgtlian traders, unfamiliar and already the subject of quiet suspicion, became the targets of their wrath. Tinya and her family, who had been interacting with customers and showcasing their artifacts, were suddenly surrounded by an angry mob. Accusations flew, branding them as the perpetrators behind the bombing, solely based on their alien nature and fortuitous presence at the scene.

Dragged forcibly before the Kryptonian Council, the Wazzos faced a kangaroo court where the mob, inflamed by xenophobia and a recent controversial zoning of General Zod, demanded the harshest of penalties. They sought to have the family banished to the Phantom Zone, a fate regarded as worse than death, typically reserved for the most heinous criminals. The Council, however, initially resisted these demands, citing a lack of evidence linking the Wazzos to the bombing.

Undeterred and driven by fury, the mob didn't relent. Their outrage was compounded by the fact that General Zod, a figure revered by many for his militant nationalism, had recently been condemned to the Phantom Zone for his genocidal actions against the Calatonians—a sentencing that many Kryptonians viewed as unjust. In their eyes, if a Kryptonian hero could be banished for defending his planet, then surely these alien traders could be punished for an act of terrorism.

In a lawless frenzy, the mob stormed the facility where the Phantom Zone Generator was housed. Under severe threats and overwhelming pressure, the prison wardens capitulated, activating the device and sentencing the innocent Wazzo family to an existence in the ghostly limbo of the Phantom Zone. This swift and brutal action was taken without due process, fueled by fear and a thirst for immediate retribution.

A week later, the real perpetrators of the bombing were apprehended, and the truth came to light. However, the revelation did little to remedy the injustice inflicted upon Tinya and her family. By then, the initial fervor had died down, and the public, distracted by other news and the quick passage of events, largely forgot about the wrongly accused Bzgtlians now trapped in an eternal void.

1976 - 2015

For Tinya, what followed were decades of existence in a timeless, shadowy dimension, far removed from the vibrant cultures and worlds she so loved. The experience would shape her profoundly, embedding a resilience and a depth of character that would define her future interactions. As she endured the haunting isolation of the Phantom Zone, the memory of Krypton's harsh judgment lingered, a stark reminder of the dangers of xenophobia and the often capricious nature of justice in the wider universe.

Tinya Wazzo’s imprisonment in the Phantom Zone stretched into decades due to the destruction of Krypton shortly after her imprisonment. The desolation and timeless atmosphere of the Zone took a toll on her family, who initially stuck close together in a cave they converted into a makeshift shelter. They created a semblance of home under the eternal twilight sky, the glowing horizon offering no change, no dawn nor dusk.

As the years wore on, the harsh, wind-swept environment of the Phantom Zone proved to be as mentally challenging as it was physically unchanging. Time effects prisoners differently in the Phantom Zone. Some prisoners seem to never age a day while others become more haggard and worn down. Winema Wazzo's pregnancy would slowly progress, but after two decades of enduring the stagnant and oppressive atmosphere, she had never given birth. Meanwhile, in the same span of time Tinya had only aged four or five years.

Now a mature Bzgtlian, Tinya was driven by a restless spirit and growing discomfort with her confined existence, and so she decided to leave the cave that her mother and sisters clung to as a sanctuary. Her family's overprotectiveness and the monotonous routine became too suffocating for her adventurous soul. So, Tinya ventured out into the wider expanse of the Zone, where she encountered groups of prisoners - most of them Kryptonian. These prisoners, remnants of a harsher era of Kryptonian justice, had formed their own tribal communities within the desolate landscape.

Curious and eager to connect with others, Tinya quickly learned their language (an older form of Kryptonian) and customs. She ingratiated herself into their society, finding acceptance and even taking lovers among them. This period was a profound learning experience for Tinya, exposing her to the complexities of moral relativism and the varied natures of exile.

However, as time passed, Tinya began to see the darker sides of those she had come to know. The Kryptonians she lived among often recounted their past crimes with little remorse, proudly sharing tales of their offenses that were chilling and cruel. The realization that many in her adopted tribe were unrepentant monsters shook Tinya to her core. Disillusioned and disheartened, she once again chose to flee, seeking solace in the solitude of the Zone’s endless deserts rather than condone or ignore the transgressions of her companions.

Life in the Phantom Zone, however, was treacherous for a solitary wanderer. Tinya found navigating the expansive emptiness challenging, with every dune and ruin looking perpetually the same under the dim glow of the twilight sky. Her attempt to find her way back to the safety of her family’s cave proved futile, and she often felt as though she was chasing mirages in the shifting sands.

Rescue came unexpectedly when Power Girl and Steel, exploring the Phantom Zone as part of a broader mission to understand its secrets and potential for housing criminals from Earth, stumbled upon Tinya. Despite her years of isolation and the emotional scars left by her experiences, Tinya's relief at encountering her rescuers was profound. She was finally extracted from the timeless prison, her journey within the Phantom Zone ending, but leaving her forever changed by the decades of survival, betrayal, and introspection. Her rescue marked not just a return to a world governed by time but also the beginning of a new chapter where she would have to reconcile her prolonged adolescence in the Phantom Zone with the realities of a universe that had moved on without her.

2015 - 2017

Following her rescue, Tinya was transferred to Glacier Point, also known as "Slabside" or Area 52, a clandestine detainment facility. The facility was originally a covert military installation in Antarctica, it had been recently repurposed to house extraterrestrial detainees. This facility served as a holding area for Tinya while she awaited news of her mother and sisters.

Glacier Point was starkly different from the desolate expanses of the Phantom Zone. Here, Tinya found herself facing a new type of isolation within the high-security confines of the facility. Her initial days were spent in a reflective solitude in her quarantine cell, where she undertook the task of studying Earth's culture deeply. It was during this period of adjustment that Tinya began to explore the peculiar residual effects that the Phantom Zone had left on her Bzgtlian physiology.

The Phantom Zone had fundamentally altered her, endowing her with the ability to phase, or become intangible at will. This ability was a direct consequence of the unique energies of the Phantom Zone interacting with her alien physiology, altering her molecular structure to allow her to pass through solid matter without harm. Tinya discreetly honed this newfound ability, practicing control and precision to ensure she could manage it effectively without revealing her capabilities inadvertently to the facility staff or other detainees.

Eventually, Tinya was released from her quarantine cell and permitted to live in the detention camp area of the facility, where she would quickly befriend many other aliens, having access to learning of different cultures and personalities - something she had craved for decades. As she continued to discreetly master her phasing ability, Tinya's inherent charm and interpersonal skills allowed her to gradually build relationships within Glacier Point. She learned English, which helped her bridge communication gaps and endear herself to both the guards and her fellow detainees. Her friendly and engaging personality eventually led to a position in the warden's office as a human-alien liaison, working alongside Imra Ardeen. This job not only provided a semblance of normalcy but also access to resources that enriched her understanding of Earth.

In the warden's office, Tinya became an invaluable asset. Her unique background, combined with her new role, facilitated smoother operations and communications within the facility. Recognizing her potential and the goodwill she had fostered, the warden recommended her for inclusion in the Advena Legion after Tinya had revealed her phasing ability to the warden.

Joining the Advena Legion was a pivotal moment for Tinya, allowing her to channel the capabilities she gained from her harrowing experience in the Phantom Zone into a constructive role. No longer merely a survivor, she was now a defender and an advocate, using her phasing ability and her empathetic nature to navigate and protect a world far from her own.

2017 - Present

Given the rank of Legion Captain, Tinya was on stage for when President Luthor announced that the Advena Legion had been launched as part of his Advena Program initiative. Joining Tinya on stage was Superman and Superboy, who Tinya could not conceal her interest in. In fact, Tinya went so far so to ask Superman on a date - only to be told that he was "spoken for." Tinya did not seem too bothered to hear this, as she quickly turned her interest toward Superboy, though it would be months before she would have a chance to tell him the same, only to be met with a similar response. Still, Tinya was determined to land herself a Kryptonian. Zenith worked closely with the Legion after his joining the Justice League. Of course, Tinya shot her shot and found that it seems most of Earth's Kryptonians were taken men. But before Tinya could contemplate the ethics of dating Dru-Zod or Non-Ur, she found herself settling for flirting with Lar Gand. Though the pair went on a couple dates, Tinya and Lar Gand's sister did not agree with what was best for Lar Gand and rather than dealing with such frustrations on a daily basis, Lar Gand broke things off with Tinya before they ever got too serious. However, with that door closed, Tinya soon found herself on the receiving end of advances made by the Rimborian Legionnaire Jo'Nah.

Tinya gave Jo'Nah a shot and he took it, wooing the Bzgtlian in no time. The two were the first Legionnaires to have a child... Well, they were the first to have an egg. Apparently pregnant Bzgtlians grow an egg in their womb over a period of five months, before they lay a soft-shelled egg in a process very similar to human birthing, with the shell hardening soon after being exposed to an oxygen-rich environment. After another six months, a Rimborian-Bzgtlian hybrid son would hatch from this egg, roughly as developed as a human child of two or three years old. The child's parents could not decide whether to give him a name in the Rimborian or Bzgtlian tradition, so they decided to give their child a name from their new home, Earth. However, rather than using a book of established names, the two aliens chose to use a dictionary and came away naming their son "Cub."

Bzgtlian Physiology

Tinya's appearance is incredibly human-like, but there are a number of notable distinctions. First, the presence of freckle-like spots on her face and arms. Second, are her coal black lips, tongue, finger and toenails, and nipples (or so I'm told - by her, actually). Third, the irises of Tinya's human-like eyes are white with a faded gray pupil.

  • Digestion: Bzgtlians possess multiple redundant digestive organs, including kidneys, stomachs, and livers. These provide Bzgtlians with enhanced filtering capabilities, allowing them to safely ingest things that other species might find toxic.

  • Enhanced Chemoreception: Tinya's black tongue may not be merely cosmetic but serve specialized functions, including enhanced taste sensitivity for detecting toxins and pheromonal secretion (more on that later). Tinya has a remarkable sense of taste, as she can easily identify the ingredients of food she tastes and can also discern things such as blood type by placing a drop of blood on her tongue. Her tongue's sensitivity is such that simply exposing it to open air can allow it function as a nose more far sensitive than those of humans, or even most canines. In fact, Bzgtlians don't have a proper sense of smell - their noses are used only for breathing.

  • Low Light Vision: Bzgtlian eyes are remarkably human in shape and size but possess an unusual color - or rather, a lack of color. Tinya's white irises stand out strikingly, suggesting an adaptation for visual acuity in lower-light environments, akin to some nocturnal Earth species.

  • Phermones: Bzgtlian tongues secrete pheromones that, when ingested, trigger intense hormonal reactions in most sapient species. This chemical reaction does not seem to affect females, so it is possible that this evolutionary development is only found in Bzgtlian females.

  • Reproduction: The reproductive cycle of Bzgtlians involves a brief gestation period compared to humans. Unlike humans, Bzgtlians reproduce through egg-laying, with the Bzgtlian mother forming an embryo inside an egg inside her womb for five months. The jet-black oblong egg is then laid, during which the child finishes their development over the next six months.

  • Temperature Regulation: The spots observed on Tinya's skin are not simply aesthetic but help her body with temperature regulation. She has significant resilience when it comes to extreme temperatures. She doesn't require a jacket except when in subzero temperatures for prolonged times and doesn't break a sweat from heat alone unless exposed to the most extreme environments found on Earth.

Phantom Zone Residual Mutation

Tinya's time in the Phantom Zone has affected her physiology. It is unclear if this was clearly due to her Bzgtlian genetics, or an unknown event more unique to her individually.

  • Intangibility: Tinya's is able to turn her body (and anything up to roughly 300 lbs [136 kg] of additional mass that she is touching) intangible, allowing her to phase through solid matter. Her control over her phase-state allows her to oscillate between corporeal and incorporeal forms with astonishing precision. She can extend this ability to selectively phase portions of her anatomy, enabling her to execute intricate maneuvers such as passing her hand through a solid object to manipulate its internal mechanisms.

  • Astral Transition: Tinya can alter her dimensional frequency, allowing her to shift from the corporeal reality to the astral plane. If she is familiar with other adjacent dimensional and sub-dimensional frequencies, Tinya could slip into those as well. An example of this is when she followed Nura Nal into the Dreaming to gain an audience with Dream of the Endless.

  • Electric Disruption: Tinya can cause localized disturbances within electronic systems by phasing her hand or other body parts into them. This half-phased interaction induces a state of flux within the electronics, causing malfunctions or shutdowns—akin to introducing a ghostly spanner into the works. Similarly, if she passes through a person's head or place her hand in someone head, the disruption can affect neural impulses, usually giving her target an instant headache or causing them to temporarily lose control over bodily functions.

  • Levitation: When fully intangible, Tinya is not subject to gravity's constraints, granting her the capacity to levitate and float through the air. Her movement in this state is silent and eerily smooth, enhancing her ability to traverse spaces undetected.

Interpersonal Skills

Tinya is a very charismatic individual. In addition to speaking three Earth-based languages with some "fluency" (her grasp of English is questionable), Tinya claims to speak forty other alien languages. It is possible that Bzgtlians have an innate ability to quickly master languages or Tinya is some sort of idiot savant when it comes to communication. In addition to her gift with tongues, Tinya is a master of reading body language and inflections in speech, even to such a degree as to make Imra Ardeen question if she has some latent psychic ability. Despite her lack of keen strategic thinking, her charisma alone makes her an exceptional leader, easily able to inspire loyalty and comraderie among those under her charge.

Martial Arts

Though not the best at fighting, Tinya still regularly participates in the training offered by teammate Val Ar'Mar. Her fighting skill is comparative to the typical police officer that does not engage in regular martial arts training or self-defense courses.

Weaknesses Emotional Immaturity: The residual effects of the Phantom Zone have imbued Tinya with a certain level of impulsiveness and a predilection for frivolous behavior. While physically mature, her emotional and cognitive responses often align with behavior not reflected by her apparent (let alone her actual age), manifesting as whimsical fixations on trends, people, and concepts. This can lead to distractibility and an inconsistent focus on tasks at hand. Tinya's reactions to stress, rejection, or failure may be exaggerated or inappropriate for her physical age. She also has a vulnerability towards obsessive behaviors. She may latch onto ideas or individuals with an intensity that skews her judgment and can disrupt mission objectives or personal relationships.

Ephemerals: Certain beings are capable of shifting their biology to match Tinya's dimensional frequency when she is phased, allowing them to grapple her and assert her return to corporeality.

Magic: Tinya is unable to phase through magical barriers or objects. She can pass through purely magical beings, however the result often leaves her lightheaded and repeating such maneuvers might cause Tinya to lose consciousness. Reproductive Imperative: Upon reaching sexual maturity, Bzgtlian females appear to suffer from intense hormonal impulses to mate every three to five years, when their bodies begin developing an egg. The impulses (which can further develop into acute abdominal pain if ignored) are only relieved when the developing egg is fertilized. Querl Dox believes he can create a pharmaceutical treatment to delay this hormonal cycle, but to date, Tinya has not allowed him the chance to examine her to the degree he would need to further explore this theory.

Self-Sustenance: When phased, Tinya exists in a state similar to when she lived in the Phantom Zone. She has no need to eat, drink, or breathe. Likewise, if she should somehow be harmed while phased, she will quickly heal back to the state she was when she entered her phased state.

Planetary Background: Naltor

Naltor is the fourth planet orbiting the star known as Lirun and is celebrated across the galaxy as a utopian paradise. Renowned for its idyllic landscapes and mild climate, Naltor is a beacon of tranquility and advanced ecological management, having been transformed into a paradise world through the Naltorians' mastery of terraforming technologies.

Naltor features a diverse range of environments, all meticulously maintained to ensure optimal beauty and balance. From sprawling, lush green meadows to tranquil beaches with crystal-clear waters, the planet is designed to cater to the comfort and relaxation of its inhabitants and visitors alike. The climate is uniformly mild, with gentle breezes and ample sunshine, regulated by sophisticated atmospheric technologies to suit the needs of various species from across the galaxy.

The mainstay of Naltor's economy is tourism, supported by a highly developed service sector. The planet boasts numerous luxury resorts and spas, offering services such as Naltorian massages, which are famed for their therapeutic benefits, and acupuncture, along with a wide array of exotic drinks served at beachside parlors. Naltor is also known for its series of intimacy manuals, which have made it a popular destination for those seeking to enhance their personal relationships or partake in the service of Naltor's famed companions. The combination of advanced terraforming and a strong service-oriented economy has made Naltor a prime destination for galactic travelers seeking relaxation and rejuvenation.

Naltor's governance is deeply intertwined with its unique spiritual philosophy, which does not worship deities but instead focuses on attunement to the intrinsic energies of the universe. This spiritual approach permeates all aspects of Naltorian life, influencing their politics, social interactions, and even economics.

Naltor is a matriarchal society that has evolved to embrace gender equality in most aspects of life. However, traditional roles and historical remnants of female dominance continue to influence societal norms and practices. This is particularly visible in the Council of Seers, which acts as the planet's leading spiritual and political body, with its 3 female seers for every male on the Council.

The planet's most popular sport, Moopsball, is a galactic phenomenon, with Naltor's professional teams having secured numerous championships, fostering a strong sense of pride and communal spirit among Naltorians. It is not uncommon to see Naltorian youth at play on the Moopsball arenas year-round, especially during the seasonal sabbaticals from their educational centers.

Approximately fifty years ago, Naltor faced a severe challenge when a mysterious plague infected about 95% of its population. While the swift deployment of a treatment saved many lives, the disease remains prevalent as a side-effect of the planet's atmospheric conditioning, requiring newborn Naltorians to be innoculated at birth to prevent serious health problems. Unfortunately, 10% of the population permanently lost their intrinsic sensitivity due to the plague (or some Naltorians claim the vaccine itself caused this side-effect), a key aspect of Naltorian spirituality and social interaction. This loss has resulted in significant social unrest and a divide within the population, leading to ongoing debates, allegations of discrimination, and calls for greater inclusivity and understanding. Among the more ignorant members of the population, the term "soul-blind" is used to refer to individuals without intrinsic connections.

Today, Naltor stands as a testament to the possibilities of advanced ecological management and the harmonious blending of technology with spirituality. Despite recent social challenges, it remains a pivotal world within the galactic community, revered not only for its physical beauty and recreational offerings but also for its deep cultural heritage and the resilience of its people in facing both external and internal challenges. As a planet that has transformed its natural hardships into strengths, Naltor continues to attract those seeking insight into a society where technology, spirituality, and nature exist in balance.

BIOGRAPHICAL TIMELINE

(Submitted by Jelly-Gal)

1994 - 2009

Nura Nal was born on the serene and spiritually rich planet of Naltor, into a family distinguished both in political and cultural spheres. Her father, Kiwa, was the first male High Seer of Naltor, celebrated for his visionary leadership and profound psychic abilities. Her mother, Myzi Nal, was a renowned songstress with the Naltorian Opera, whose voice was said to embody the ethereal beauty of Naltor itself. Nura was the couple's second daughter, growing up in a household that valued both spiritual depth and artistic expression.

Nura's early years were shadowed by tragedy. Her older sister, Mysa, fell victim to a devastating plague known as the Silvershade Sickness which had a resurgence that swept through Naltor when Mysa was too young to be safely vaccinated. This illness left Mysa without the intrinsic abilities that defined Naltorian culture, setting her on a path markedly different from that expected of Seer Kiwa’s offspring.

In contrast, Nura not only escaped the illness but also manifested intrinsic psychic abilities from a very young age. Recognized as a prodigy, her talents were nurtured under the watchful eyes of her parents and the spiritual leaders of Naltor. Her striking appearance, with silver-white hair and deep blue eyes speckled with silver, marked her as a beauty by Naltorian standards, and her charismatic presence made her a beloved figure among her peers.

As Nura's natural psychic potential and beauty flourished, so did the rivalry with her older sister, Mysa. The sisters pursued drastically different paths due to their differing capabilities, with Mysa navigating the complexities of a life unaided by psychic powers, and Nura excelling in every psychic discipline she encountered. This rivalry, though intense, it did not prevent Nura from fostering strong and positive relationships with her younger siblings, Xola and Nia.

2009 - 2014

Nura's extraordinary psychic potential led her to the prestigious Naltorian Spirit College, an institution dedicated to honing the psychic and spiritual abilities of Naltor’s most gifted individuals. Contrary to expectations, Nura chose a path less traveled among her peers; she shunned the typical careers in customer service or spiritual and political leadership. Instead, driven by a deep sense of justice and compassion, she aspired to join the planet’s security forces, aiming to use her powers to protect and serve the less fortunate.

Nura excelled in her training, graduating earlier than most of her classmates. Her achievements earned her a blue star face tattoo, marking her as a Naltorian Spiritmaster—quite the prestigious designation among Naltorians.

2014 - 2016

Nura Nal was eager to make her mark and serve justice, though her early graduation meant she was still too young to officially join the Peace Wardens of Naltor. Impatient, Nura decided to go off-world and find a seasoned Xanthuan Manhunter named Thol Garrun willing to mentor her. Garrun was an experienced bounty hunter known for his strict adherence to justice. Much to Nura's joy, the Manhunter agreed to take Nura on as a deputized apprentice, introducing her to the harsh realities of interstellar law enforcement.

Under Garrun's guidance, Nura quickly mastered the tools of the trade. She excelled in hand-to-hand combat and showed a natural aptitude for the investigative aspects of their work. Her talents as a Manhunter-in-training soon became apparent, as she adeptly navigated the complex web of galactic criminal activity.

The duo's proficiency led them to a high-stakes mission: tracing a missing person who had vanished under mysterious circumstances. Their investigation led them to a remote spherical space station outside Sector 2314. Utilizing sensor-jamming technology to avoid detection, they infiltrated the station, only to discover a dark and horrifying secret. Their target, along with other unfortunate captives, was imprisoned in the station's brig, intended as sustenance for a monstrous, augmented parademon named Validus.

The situation escalated when Nura and Garrun attempted to free the prisoners. In doing so, they triggered the station's alarms, bringing them face-to-face with its deadly protectors — the Emerald Empress and her formidable champions, the Fatal Five. In the ensuing chaos, Nura witnessed the brutal death of her mentor Garrun, who was savagely killed by Persauder, one of the Empress's most ruthless enforcers.

Captured and uncertain of her fate, Nura endured a torturous captivity under the watchful eye of the Emerald Empress. The Empress's intentions remained unclear — at times seeming to desire Nura's psionic abilities, at others merely toying with her. Despite the psychological torment, Nura's resolve never wavered.

2016 - 2017

Her opportunity for escape came when the Empress's sphere was assaulted by other heroes. Amidst the chaos, Nura managed to free herself and several other prisoners, making use of the station's escape modules, which brought her safely to the surface of nearby Earth.

Choosing not to return to Naltor, Nura turned herself over to the DEO upon seeing an advertisement for the Advena Legion. Her insights into the operations of the Emerald Empress and the Fatal Five proved invaluable, and she quickly became a key asset in their ongoing investigations.

2017 - Present

As a member of the Advena Legion, Nura dedicated herself to avenging her fallen mentor. She regularly conducts interrogations at Arkham Asylum and Iron Heights, where Persauder was imprisoned. Though no doubt tempted to exact personal revenge, Nura has thus far maintained her composure, understanding that stopping the Emerald Empress is crucial to preventing further atrocities. Shortly after joining the Legion, Nura became romantically involved with teammate Thom Kallor, a Xanthuan. It's likely that Thom reminded Nura of Garrun and being close to Thom helped Nura adapt to life without her dear friend and mentor. However, Thom was not Nura's only friend, she also developed a close bond with Val Ar'Mar as the two often spar - with Nura being one of the only members of the Legion to ever defeat Val in the training ring.

On a personal note, Nura learned of the passing of her father through lucid dreaming. Using the same method, she contacted her mother and informed her of her current situation and whereabouts. Some months after this, a Naltorian by the name of Kenz arrived on Earth, showing up unannounced at the DEO headquarters. Kenz claimed to have been sent to Earth by Nura's mother to bring her back to Naltor. Kenz invoked an old Naltorian tradition of the Mother's Mandate, asserting the Myzi Nal had chosen Kenz to be her daughter's mate and Nura was to accompany him back to Naltor so that the two may be married. This tradition was no longer enforced on Naltor, but it was still widely respected and observed. Nura was hesitant to leave Earth and the Legion, regarding them as her new family. Torn between honoring her family on Naltor and remaining with her friends on Earth, Nura asked Kenz to grant her time to deliberate. At first, Kenz seemed to honor this request, though he became increasingly impatient as Nura stalled on making a decision after several weeks. This would eventually come to a head, when Kenz swiped Nura's security pass and programmed a false alarm into the Legion's communications system, causing the Legionnaires on both active and on-call assignment to respond to a non-existent emergency. With the Legionnaire's base clear, Kenz was free to dispatch of the remaining Legionnaires on base attempting to enjoy some R&R. Kenz employed his own psychic abilities to put most of them to sleep, including Gatekeeper which meant the team's extraction portal closed, stranding them across the country. However, Kenz's psionic impulse had no effect on Nura who was in bed with Thom when she felt the psychic signal flood the base. Nura used her own powers to dispel the effect on Thom and the two went to investigate, but did not need to go far as Kenz was already en route to Nura's quarters. When the Nura and Thom confronted Kenz, a brief fight ensued during which Kenz injected Nura with a Naltorian sedative that negated Nura's psionics and put her to sleep. He then attempted to use his own psionics on Thom to render him unconscious, but to Kenz's surprise, the Xanthuan resisted. Kenz intensified the signal, causing both his and Thom's noses to bleed, but still Thom resisted the effect long enough to close the distance to Kenz, slam him against a wall, and snap his neck. Before Nura fully drifted off from the sedative effect, she saw Thom drop to the floor, uncertain of his condition. When Nura woke up, she was shocked to learn that Director Bones and Agent Lane were discussing Thom's expulsion from the program - and possible incarceration at Glacier Point. Though Nura's objection to that did seem to postpone and decisions on the matter just yet, Thom has been benched for some time due to brain damage caused by his resistance of Kenz's psionics, causing him to suffer from a condition very similar to schizophrenia. Bones and Lane settled for concealing Kenz's death, due to Kenz's claims of being the son of galactic dignitary. Outside of the Legion (and the Network), the only people to know of Kenz's fate are the DEO leadership, and possibly President Luthor (I'm not too certaina bout that). For the love of god, please use the highest levels of discretion with who you share this information with. Last thing we need is a cosmic crisis.

Ever faithful, Nura remains at Thom's side, using her powers to mitigate his condition's effects and working with him and the DEO to find a suitable ongoing treatment plan. UPDATE: The DEO has been contacted by someone claiming to be Kenz's brother. This individual asserts that he knows what we did to Kenz. I'm not accusing the Network of having a leak by any means. I mean, it's not impossible that Kenz's brother could have some psychic insight into Kenz's death. Also, the language the message uses is ambiguous. They might possibly believe we have Kenz held captive at Glacier Point or at Iron Heights.

Naltorian Physiology

Naltorians are remarkably similar in appearance to humans, with subtle distinctions that set them apart. Their physical form mirrors that of humans in structure and size, making them largely indistinguishable at a quick glance.

  • Enhanced Vision: One of the unique characteristics of Naltorians is their eye structure. To the untrained eye, Naltorians appear to have pupil-less eyes due to their large white irises. In reality, what appears to be the colored part of the eye in humans corresponds to the Naltorian pupil. These pupils contain tiny flecks that are not only a visual trait but also indicate the presence and nature of a Naltorian’s psychic abilities. The flecks within Naltorian pupils are a key indicator of their intrinsic abilities. These flecks vary in color and are usually aligned with the individual’s psychic powers. For example, white flecks are commonly associated with a connection to the Od.

  • Intrinsic Sensitivity: Naltorians are known for their profound connection to intrinsic energies, possessing a greater affinity for manipulating these forces than many other species. It is not uncommon for Naltorians to have connections to multiple intrinsic fields, with some individuals capable of tapping into three or four different energies. There are even a very small percentage of Naltorians who ascend to a state of being known as "Ascendant," by developing connections to all intrinsic fields.

  • Psionic Seduction: A small percentage of the Naltorian population exhibits silver freckles, another distinctive trait that enhances their ethereal appearance. These freckles are not only considered a beauty mark on Naltor, often associated with individuals who have a deep, innate connection to Naltor's rich spiritual heritage, but are also an indication that the individual has a gene that means the individual's aura gives off a 'psychic pheromone,' causing them to be generally to be regarded as an ideal mate, or at least more sexually attractive by those susceptible to such suggestion - this effect becomes increasingly more potent when the freckled individual is in a state of sexual arousal.

Spiritmaster Development

Spiritmaster training on Naltor is a rigorous program that combines intensive intrinsic development with a broad academic curriculum, encompassing fields such as chemistry, biology, and xenobiology, as well as advanced philosophical studies. Trainees enhance their innate abilities to manipulate the intrinsic fields. This comprehensive education not only amplifies their intrinsic capabilities but also transforms them into polymath geniuses, well-prepared for influential roles in Naltorian society and beyond.

  • Astral Projection: Nura can project her consciousness into the astral plane, exploring other ephemeral realms while maintaining a connection to her physical body through an astral anchor. This ability allows her to gather information and interact with various spiritual dimensions.

  • Clairsentience: Nura has a passive connection to the Od, the intrinsic field linked to memory, dreams, and psychic phenomena. This allows her to intuitively know things without explanation, such as guessing a passcode correctly on the first try. However, this knowledge is not always reliable, so she uses it sparingly and cautiously.

  • Infused Knowledge: Due to psychic infusion of tremendous knowledge and various Spiritmaster techniques that augmented the way her brain operates, Nura is a genius with polymath and polyglot capabilities. Nura excels in multiple scientific disciplines, including chemistry, genetics, biology, and xenobiology. Her broad knowledge base makes her one of the principal medics of her team, recognized even without formal medical licensure due to her status as a Naltorian Spiritmaster - an exemption that the Lantern Corps recognizes, and the DEO has extended to Nura as a courtesy.

  • Lucid Dreaming: Within the realm known as the Dreaming, Nura can navigate and manipulate dreamscapes, affecting the dreams of others or her own. This ability enables her to conduct espionage within dreams or explore deeper layers of the subconscious. However, interactions with the powerful entities of the Dreaming, such as the Endless, can be risky.

  • "Od Balls": Nura can create astral orbs akin to 'will o'wisps' that serve as extensions of her consciousness. These orbs can be used for surveillance or, when reinforced with ectoplasm, turned corporeal to attack opponents with bursts of psychic energy.

  • Psychic Healing: By introducing an "Od Ball" into a person’s aura, Nura can release positive energy that enhances healing and immune responses, as well as dispelling unwanted mystical influences.

  • Supernatural Senses: Due to her potent intrinsic ability, Nura can see and interact with unmanifested ephemeral beings.

Martial Arts

Nura is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat, proficient in both Naltorian and Xanthuan martial arts. Her combat skills are comparable to Earth’s top martial artists. This capability is likewise further enhanced by her Spiritmaster training allowing her mind to process sensory stimuli at much greater rates than most other sentient beings.

  • Lethal Mode: Reserved for extreme circumstances where deadly force is warranted, this mode delivers a high-energy beam capable of penetrating most known materials. This powerful setting is used strictly in compliance with engagement rules where lethal force is authorized.

Weaknesses Arrogance: Her vast capabilities and accomplishments have led Nura to develop an arrogant demeanor, which can result in underestimating her adversaries and overestimating her own abilities.

Increased Libido: Naltorian biology includes a heightened libido, which can lead to aggressive behavior if not managed properly. However, Nura rarely sees this as a problem. She has no problem finding partners. I mean, they call her "Dream Girl" for a reason, right?

Migraines: Certain environmental stimuli can trigger migraines for Nura, which can incapacitate her or severely impair her ability to focus and use her abilities effectively.

Overexertion of Powers: Extensive use of her powers can lead to physical and mental exhaustion, limiting her effectiveness in prolonged engagements.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Nura experiences frequent nightmares involving scenarios where her comrades are harmed or killed. These nightmares can disrupt her sleep and impact her mental health. The nightmares often depict her or her teammates being brutally killed by the Emerald Empress, the Fatal Five, an undead Kenz, or even her loved ones - such as recurring nightmares that feature Thom strangling her.

Sleep Cycle Issues: Adapting to human sleep cycles has been challenging for Nura. She alternates between insomnia and narcolepsy, struggling to balance her natural Naltorian circadian rhythm with Earth's day-night cycle.
